Honoring Dr. Vedhachalam for his contribution in the areas of History, Archaeology and Heritage

Dr. V. Vedachalam served for thirty-three years in the Tamilnadu State Department of Archaeology in various capacities as Museum Curator, Senior Epigraphist and Archaeologist. He is visiting professor in Tamil University Thanjavur and M.S. University Tirunelveli. He has done Multi various research works right from the entry to the Archaeology Department of Tamil Nadu to till date continuously. He has the credit of new findings and explorations in the field of Epigraphy (Inscriptions), Coins, Palm Leaf Manuscripts, Copperplate records, Sculptures and Temples recorded his findings and interpretations in his various books and articles.

Dr. V. Vedachalam has published more than Twenty five books on various themes such as Epigraphy, Numismatics (Coins), Copperplates, Temple Arts, Religion and Society. One of the books published by him namely Parakramapandiapuram has received the best book award by Tamil Nadu Government.

DHAN honours the services of Dr. V Vedachalam for past 10+ years in contributing development tourism particularly on Heritage literacy such as heritage walk, World heritage and culture lecture series. Also helping us in developing historical documents and films our culture and heritage. He was instrumental in conducting for more than 300 plus heritage walks which happened in 220 Historical locations of various districts of Tamil Nadu It has resulted in the conservation initiative by various stakeholders – DHAN Kalanjiam, Vayalagam, CALL, Rainfed Communities and Students of various educational institutions.
