Welcome to the eleventh edition of the Madurai Symposium, hosted by The DHAN Academy (TDA) from September 23-27, 2023. Under the theme "Advancing Development - New Social Order," this biennial event is a pivotal gathering of diverse stakeholders committed to fostering inclusive development. We have a rich legacy of conducting the Madurai Symposium, with successful editions until 2020. Following this tradition, we have expanded our footprint and initiated symposiums in different parts of India. Symposium 2023 have been successfully conducted in Madurai, Bangalore, and Vizag. Currently, the Pune Symposium 2024 is underway.
Fostering Inclusive Development: The DHAN Foundation believes that development is a collaborative endeavor requiring the engagement of various stakeholders. The Madurai Symposium has consistently been a platform for these collaborations, focusing on empowering communities across different contexts and regions.
Key Stakeholders: This symposium brings together Community Organizations, Civil Societies/NGOs, Government Representatives, Banking and Insurance Professionals, CSR Foundations, Donors, Philanthropists, and Academics. The objective is to exchange insights and share lessons from hands-on experiences, contributing to a more comprehensive understanding of effective strategies for uplifting underprivileged communities.
Call for New Social Order: In the face of persistent inequality, the symposium emphasizes the need for a transformative shift. Inspired by Mahatma Gandhi's wisdom that "poverty is the worst form of violence," the call is for a society based on Equality, Equity, Ethics, and Empathy. By infusing inclusivity into initiatives, we can ensure collective growth that benefits everyone.
Themes and Perspectives: The New Social Order (NSO) envisions societal transformation rooted in justice, equity, self-sufficiency, decentralization, and sustainability. Drawing inspiration from iconic figures like Gandhi, Buddha, and Kumarappa, the NSO places a strong emphasis on justice, equal rights, and compassion.Addressing Key Challenges: The symposium will deliberate on crucial issues such as Health for all, Financial Inclusion, WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene), Sustainable Livelihoods, Gender Equality, Climate Change, and Promoting Local Food Systems with a focus on Small Millets.
Events and Activities: Throughout the symposium, there will be conferences, seminars, workshops, people conventions, public events, cultural evenings, exhibitions, and development film screenings. These events aim to share best practices, promote local talents, and create awareness about critical development issues.
Join us in shaping a new social order and advancing development. Together, let's create a brighter, more sustainable future.
