Orientation on Jal Shakti Abhiyan by DHAN Foundation at Chityal MPDO
W e live in a country where excessive rainfalls cause water-logging and floods. We also live in the same country where sometimes there is not a single drop to drink due to scarcity of water. It is here that initiatives like ‘Jal Shakti Abhiyan’ (J.S.A.) try to bridge the gap by promoting rainwater harvesting and conserving the water for future use. The J.S.A. aims at making water conservation a people’s movement through asset creation and extensive communication.
Recently, the orientation programme on Jal Shakti Abhiyan was held by DHAN Foundation at Chityal MPDO. The main purpose of this programme is to create awareness amongst the people to access water harvesting structures and management of the water bodies.
The programme meant to create an action plan to save water at Each village level, Mandal level and as well as District level. According to the action plan, the participants were expected to liaise with concerned departments for implementing state and central schemes.
Around 13 activities such as roof water harvesting and tank renovation are proposed under the “JAL SHAKTI ABHIYAN” program by the District collector.
