Kalanjiam Mutual Movement

Expression of Mutuality

Kalanjiam Mutual Movement (KMM) is first of its kind promoted by Kalanjiam SHGs to spread the concept of ‘Kalanjiam – Granary’. Kalanjiams across the nation reckon ‘Kalanjiam- Granary’ as holy place of savings. The pooled savings will be used by the Kalanjiams on need- based, through the shared mutuality, democracy, trust and cooperation among members. In its two decades of operations, Kalanjiam Mutual Movement outreached 8.3 lakh poor families across 12 states, spreading in rural, urban and tribal contexts (Statistics source: KMM Annual report 2019-2020).

16 th November 1998, marked the mutuality’s genesis, ‘Kalanjiam Mutual Movement’. 25,000 poor women through their own Kalanjiams promoted their own Mutual Movements.
