Jawadhu Hills, one of the integrated locations of DHAN Foundation, having the thematic programmes viz. Small Millet Foundation (SMF), Climate Change Adaptation, SUHAM and Jeevidam. Professionals at the location focused on institution building activities in the November month.
Ten new SMF groups were promoted in Kovilur cluster. The promoted groups through savings and internal lending (in future credit linkages) will move on the poverty gradation. In addition to it, the groups in collaboration with Jeevidam, entrusts the ownership and better market price for their produce. Through the adaptation phase, DHAN envisages to ensure the much-needed healthy nutritional security by encouraging the small millet farmers.
DHAN Jeevidam programme in the location expanding exploring marketing opportunities with Jeevidam’s across the other locations and other private companies. Samples of out Little Millet Rice and Grains were sent to the companies as well.
Ensuring the Consumption
586 Kgs of Little Millet was processed for the consumption of Jawadhu Hills farmers. DHAN processing units are getting popularized in the location and farmers from across six villages in Veerapanur panchayat commenced utilizing our unit for their samai consumption. Pamphlets of small millet recipes were being circulated and demonstrated in order to reinforce the consumption habit of small millets among the communities.
