Awareness through Arts

Folklore unit of DHAN Foundation in collaboration with L&T organized awareness campaigns on Groundwater Management, Nutrition and Health Awareness in Gudiyatham, Vellore district. Seven awareness campaigns on Nutrition and Health, fifteen awareness campaigns on Groundwater Management were conducted from 12th October to 22nd October 2020 across 22 villages of Gudiyatham. Emphasis on groundwater significance, toilet construction, small millets food incorporation in day-to-day life for dietary diversification were provided during the campaigns. Younger generations were given special focus to act as change agents in their communities. Participants were also oriented towards Rainwater harvesting, conserving the natural resources and importance of promoting and sustaining the people institutions. Folk art forms viz., Parai, Street play, Karagatam, Oyilattam, and Folk songs were used to create awareness among the members. 1231 members spread across 22 villages of Gudiyatham have participated during 11 days awareness programmes.
