Sigining of MoU for Empowering Indian Villages Financially
T he Government of India initiated the National Mission for Financial Inclusion (NMFI), namely, Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) in August 2014 to provide universal banking services for every unbaked household, based on the guiding principles of banking the unbanked, securing the unsecured, funding the unfunded and serving unserved and underserved areas.

As part of the first phase of the project, DHAN Foundation has collaborated with the Reserve Bank of India for the implementation phase.
As a part of the first phase, the project is meant to be implemented in around six states and two Union Territories. Overall, DHAN aims to implement the project in 80 districts across the country covering 510 blocks to promote 170 centers for Financial Literacy.
As a part of the project, DHAN Foundation has executed MoUs with Canara Bank, SBI, IOB, BOI, UCO, UBI, and Indian bank.
The project would largely benefit around 80 lakhs beneficiaries, including the rural women, the excluded community, working about, and village youth.
