Aurangabad region compost demonstration under SAP project
W hat if someone tells you that the food on your platter is actually coming from soil mixed with chemicals and other inorganic substances. Chances are that you may lose your appetite for the day. It is a well-known fact that most of the food grown today with inorganic fertilizers and pesticides. Chemicals added in soil and sprayed on the crop is not only harmful to the environment but also for our body.
It is with the novel initiative to change this practice and to promote natural compost as fertilizers, that the Kalanjiam Foundation of Aurangabad region carried out compost preparation demonstrations in the villages of its presence.
The demonstration was held on 8th and 9th July, with the support of YES Foundation and under the expertise and guidance of Mr. Shivram Ghodke, ( Recipient of Krushi Bhushan award from the Government of Maharashtra). The demonstration was held at Vaijapur and Khultabad. Around 144 individuals participated in the event.
The major objective of the demonstration was to enable the farmers and the Kalanjiam members with the correct techniques of preparing compost in their fields.

The compost preparation involved the usage of S9 Culture and takes around two months of preparation.
With the compost fertilizer, nearly 50 to 100 Quintal of fertilizer can be produced with one set of depo. Not only does this help to make friable soil but also increases the organic carbon in the soil. It also helps in the right drainage of water from the soil and helps in the good photosynthesis of the crop.
Natural fertilizers made with the compost heps increases microbial resources and activity and improving soils. Eventually, we get chemical-free food on our plates.
The event was well-received by all the participants and resolved to use the techniques learned from the experts.
