World Water Day

Water is the elixir of life. Through the Vayalagam Foundation initiatives, DHAN Foundation has constantly striven for ensuring that water is conserved and maintained for all. On World Water Day, it became an occasion for us to reclaim our pledge to conserve water for generations. Let us catch a glimpse of what our locations have decided on on the eve of World Water Day.

Pambar Region

For the current financial year, the Pambar region has chosen the theme ‘Valuing Water’. No doubt, the value of water has often been underestimated by most amongst us leading to the water crises that we are in now.

One of the ways to value water, according to the team in Pambar, is to promote Ooranis. The reason for this is very simple. Ooranis are easy to access, have low cost, and are easily accessible throughout the year.

Out team in Pambar is also aware of the hazards of unsafe water. For this, they are considering to sale up the usage of Bio sand filter. A bio-sand filter (BSF) is an adaptation of the traditional slow sand filter, which has been used for community drinking water treatment for 200 years.

Our colleagues from the Khammam region marked International Water Day with emphasis on water conservation and water harvesting. The invited dignitaries for the event included Dr. V. Laxmi Narayanamma, Krishi Vignan Kendra (KVK), Programme Co-ordinator, Bhadradri Kothagudem district, Mr.D.Veeranna , Project officer (DRDA), and APGVB bank Palvoncha branch manager, K. Nischal.

MR. D. Veeranna interacted with the participants and conveyed that DHAN Foundation has donene a great job in conserving huge liters of water by constructing nearly 759 water conservation Structures in Bhadradri Kothagudem district and also shown interest to collaborate with DHAN Foundation in the further future works.

From all four locations, one vayalagam member from each location shared their experience in working under ITC-MSK project-related works and explained the different types of SMC works done in their respective vayalagams.
