S kill is an important asset though it is intangible and it is a human factor in livelihood promotion. Appropriate knowledge and skills are essential for the poor to successfully respond to the livelihood opportunities and challenges of economic and technological changes. Building livelihood skills enable the poor, particularly youths to gain employability and acquire the capability of becoming entrepreneurs. DHAN’s ‘Livelihood Initiative with Functional Education (LIFE)’ Centre works on building the women and youth with new skills in response to the market needs and enhance their employability at the local level. Skill building, facilitation of market linkages, credit and employment are an integral part of LIFE.

Tumkur Region has conducted training programmes on livelihood for its members who are part of NABARD’s LEDP project. The training was commenced for the 1st batch on dairy activities wherein 30 selected members in Kotagudda village of Nidagal hobali have participated. The event was organized with the support of veterinary department, State bank of india and Canara bank. The training programme was conducted for 9 days.
