Immunity-booster drive in Melur
M adurai Rural Region is working with four districts like Madurai, Puthukottai, Ramanad and Sivagangai along with 14 federations having 2793 groups and 38767 members. During the last month, all the federations in the regions were deeply involved in a range of activities to fight COVID-19. Activities like immunity-boosting drives, virtual wellness centres and vaccination of members and their families were aimed. Also, they carried out career counselling for 10th and 12th class students and training to the federation secretary and cluster secretaries. Also, emphasis was laid on ensuring to get entitlements through Anganwadi and PHC.

Training for Cluster Secretary and Federation Secretary
As a part of continued efforts to fight the pandemic, a special emphasis was laid on ‘SOMAHA Plus’ to keep the community safe against the pandemic. For this, COVID-19 awareness and vaccination drive benefits and orientation was held through SUHAM Trust and doctors. Through this event, they explained the Immunity System, traditional food practice system, homemade COVID 19 treatments, vaccination-related doubts and plans for vaccination at cluster secretary and federation secretary. In this event, 43 Cluster Secretaries and 12 Federation Secretaries participated and got confidence from the training and they also planned for their cluster members vaccination. In the event, around 114 Associates and 17 Dhan staff also participated.
Also, a separate awareness session was held for the 5 panchayat presidents, 16 ward members and 2 panchayat staff as per the model panchayat initiative by DHAN Panchayat Development Programme.

Vaccination Drives
Around 10,839 members vaccinated themselves with the first dose while 3391 members were vaccinated with the second dose.

Career Counselling Initiatives
Pandemic has no doubt taken a toll on the education of our youngsters. In order to support students, career-counselling initiatives were carried out for the 10th and 12th class students for their future education. Through this event, 142 students were benefitted.

Community Call Center Counselling
In Madurai rural region, in each location two staff are working for the community call centre. As a part of this activity, they are giving daily counselling to the NCD members, kalanjiam leaders, village leaders for information on the COVID situation in the village, to know about fever affected persons and for giving awareness for vaccination drives. With the help of PHC, they have conducted COVID test camps for around 1451 members.

Relief Activities
Palamedu federation’s 89 COVID-affected members received relief products worth Rs. 1, 11,250 outside donors.
Around 23,800 grams of Kabasura Kudineer was distributed to the members and to the general public as well. Also, around 20000 arsenic album tablets were distributed to the community and family members for strengthening their immunity.
