Amidst the covid-19 lockdown, the loss of life and finance, DHAN Foundation’s People Institutions served as safety nets for its member families to meet their survival needs besides ensuring safety at their door step.
During May 2020, DHAN Foundation facilitated its members in the microfinance groups across 14 states to avail Rs. 56.08 lakhs through SAHAYA loan, Rs. 6.10 lakhs through Kalanjiam Mutual Movement, Rs. 203. 41 lakhs through monthly internal loans, Rs. 5.75 lakhs through Disaster Risk Revolving Fund, Rs. 41.00 lakhs through CORONA Santhvana loans (Emergency loan initiative of Mysore region), Rs. 25.10 lakhs through livelihood loan (Visakhapatnam region) and Rs. 95.00 lakhs through bank loans.
Aurangabad
DHAN Foundation has its presence in Aurangabad (Maharashtra) region across three locations namely Vaijapur, Khultabad and Gangapur and works with 257 Kalanjiam Self Help Groups (SHGs). Out of 257 SHGs, 71 SHGs have conducted their monthly group meetings wherein the members in need availed loans; the cumulative loans amounted to Rs. 1.39 lakhs.
Balasore
DHAN Foundation has enrolled its 61 SHGs for SAHAYA loans, wherein three groups have received the loan amounting to Rs. 1.70 lakhs in the Balasore region of Odisha.
Gundar
DHAN Foundation has enrolled all its eligible Agricultural Finance Groups (AFGs) for SAHAYA loan, wherein 14 groups have received the loans amounting to Rs. 8.75 lakhs.
Madurai Rural
The Madurai rural region of DHAN Foundation operates with 2632 SHGs. By ensuring the safety measures and following the preventive measures, the members have conducted their monthly meetings, wherein 2447 members who are in dire need of finances have applied for loan and availed a loan amount of Rs. 159.5 lakhs. Of all the groups applied for SAHAYA loan, 13 SHGs have received the loans amounting to Rs. 9.75 lakhs.
Mysore Region
DHAN Foundation addressed the sustenance needs and financial crisis by designing a special loan product ‘CORONA Santhvana loan’ for benefitting its members in Mysore region of Karnataka. The special loan facilitates the members to avail loan from banks; a minimum of Rs. 2000 to a maximum of Rs. 5000. So far, the members have availed Santhavana loans to a tune of Rs. 41 lakhs.
Nagapattinam
DHAN Foundation supported the severely affected fishermen community through its federations in Nagapattinam region of Tamil Nadu. Leaders and members in the federations have come together and voluntarily contributed Rs. 23,000 supporting 43 fishermen families in the region. Out of 128 eligible SHGs for SAHAYA loan in the region, 28 SHGs have applied so far, wherein nine SHGs received the loans amounting to Rs. 7 lakhs.
Nanded
DHAN Foundation has provided financial assistance in the form of matching revolving fund through its Kalanjiam Mutual Movement programme. So far SHGs availed Rs. 1 lakh, wherein the members are using the amount to support their daily grocery needs as well as medical needs.
Pambar
DHAN Foundation addressed the livelihood loss in the Pambar region of Tamil Nadu by rendering short term loans through the revolving fund of DHANA project as well as through banks. DHAN Foundation supported 994 families by providing credit facility amounting to Rs. 42,51,500 through its revolving fund. DHAN Foundation facilitated the bank loans to 94 families, for a cumulative amount of Rs. 40,00,000.
Ramnad
DHAN Foundation facilitated the bank loans for the SHGs in the region, wherein 16 SHGs have received loans amounting to Rs. 55 lakhs.
Solapur and Osmanabad
DHAN Foundation supported the SHGs in Solapur and Osmanabad region of Maharashtra by providing matching revolving fund through its Kalanjiam Mutual Movement (KMM) programme. Rs. 5.10 lakhs were provided to 203 families, wherein the members are using the money to meet their emergency needs.
Tuticorin
DHAN Foundation through its Vayalagam and Kalanjiam federations in Tuticorin region of Tamil Nadu created Rs. 5.75 lakhs as disaster risk revolving fund. Thus created disaster risk revolving fund will be utilized in meeting the consumption and medical needs of two hundred member families in the region
Visakhapatnam
DHAN Foundation in Visakhapatnam region of Andhra Pradesh ensured its 601 eligible member avail the SAHAYA loan amounting to Rs. 28.88 lakhs and 155 eligible members in the SHGs to avail Rs. 25.10 lakhs through livelihood loan.
