DHAN Foundation through its DHAN collective excelled in collaboration with other agencies on several fronts – funds, policy formulations, policy advocacy, training and consultancy, networking, etc. Mainstream collaborations is needed to address the uncertainties prevailing amidst the hardships posed by the pandemic, wherein the field functionaries at the people institutions ensured in extending and expanding their approaches and strategies in alleviating the members from the covid-19 abyss by assuring the livelihood security, health security and nutritional security.
Ensuring the livelihood security to the member families’, women tailors across the several tailoring units were employed in mask stitching works, members across the nested institutions were provided with credit facilities through internal lending as well as through banks and measures were underway for equipping the members with new skillset across all the contexts, in particular among the tribal communities where the migrant workers are high.
Ensuring the health security to the member families across the 14 states, professionals engaged in concept seeding ‘SoMaHa’ awareness campaign among the communities’ directly as well as through social media platforms in addition to disseminating information in voice and video formats to reach the extra mile. Creating awareness on the herbal, natural and traditional foods along with distributing the prominent siddha and homeopathy immunity boosters among the community has been observed in a large scale across all the people institutions.
Ensuring nutrition security across all its associated member families has been one of the missions of the foundation, wherein the foundation has been promoting kitchen garden, a concept to meet the family’s nutritional demand in their own premises, which served its purpose in ensuring the sustenance needs of the member families during the pandemic period. Furthermore, community organization leaders and members engaged in supplying the grocery items, serving cooked through collaborations with rotary clubs and mainstreams.
Adilabad: Mainstream collaborations
At Asifabad location, in kalanjiam programme, bank linkages to the eligible groups has been commenced, ensuring one of the kalanjiam groups to avail a loan of Rs. 3 lakhs from the bank, which alleviates the whole 15 to 20 member’ families of the group from the clutches of livelihood uncertainties due to covid-19.
At Ghatanji location, under Rainfed Development Programme, local banks collaborations were underway submitting linkage proposals for 8 PPGs in the location. Furthermore, in collaboration with Forest department, plantation activities have been carried out in six villages, planting 382 plants in June month.
Cuddalore: Mainstream Collaborations
DHAN Foundation established a multipurpose cyclone centre at Kulanchavadi as a resilience building model with the support of Aditya Birla Financial Services. Amidst the hardships posed during the covid lockdown, DHAN Foundation extended its support to district administration proposing the cyclone to be utilized as quarantine centre. Collaboration with Cuddalore block development office, municipality entrusted DHAN Foundation with mass mask production orders; so far producing 13200 masks, creating employment opportunity to the tailoring members.
Kalburgi: Local Collaboration
In collaboration with Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), DHAN Foundation is creating awareness and promoting Health Immunity building diet system disseminating the information through online platforms viz., video and photo stories to its associated members.
Mysore: Celebrating Environment Day
In collaboration with forest department, on eve of environment day, Mysore region has received 3800 plant seedlings, which has been distributed in Periyapatna and H D Kote locations.
Ramanagara: Rotary Club
With the financial aid of the Rotary club in the region, during 17th June till 20th June 2020, Ramanagara team has supplied nutritional kits to 315 scheduled caste vulnerable kalanjiam women families in Kudur and Magadi federations.
The 12 items in the Nutritious kit includes Wheat Floor – 3 kgs, Toor Dhal – 1 kg, Sugar – 1 kg, Urad Dal – 1/2 kg, Turmeric Powder – 50 grams, Garlic – ¼ kg, Pepper – 50 gms, Jeera – 100 gms, Oil –1/2 ltr, Bengal Gram – 400 gms, Raagi+Sajje Powder –1/2 kg.
Furthermore, during the distribution of nutrition kits members were given awareness on SoMaHa with live demonstrations.

NABARD:
Ensuring the livelihood support for the tailoring members of Hingoli location, LEDP proposal has been submitted to NABARD.
RSETTI:
Skill building training is the need of the hour especially for migrants. Regional team is exploring the various available options – finances as well as resource persons for creating employment opportunities for the members. In line with that, regional team had discussions with RSETTI director in taking the initiative forward.
