15th January is regarded as Thiruvalluvar Day after the Great Tamil poet and philosopher Thiruvalluvar, who is widely known for the book Thirukkural (“Sacred Couplets”). Thirukkural is considered as a masterpiece of human thought, often compared to the works of John Milton’s and Plato’s.
On the occasion of Thiruvalluvar day, DHAN Foundation organized essay writing competitions, elocutions and drawings. Students studying 6th standard to 12th standard participated in the event. The panel members recalled the importance of Thiruvalluvar’s work, especially incorporation of Thirukkural in day-to-day life of the students.
