I Anaemia affects over 800 million women worldwide. In India, it is classified as a major public health problem as it is estimated that 52% of nonpregnant women of reproductive age are anemic. Although the primary cause of anemia is iron deficiency, it is seldom present in isolation.

Anaemia Control Programme is a part of the health initiative which is considered to be the Flagship programme of SUHAM Trust. This has been implemented over a period of more than two decades and brought in the reduction of prevalence rate of anemia using the Behaviour Change Communication as the major strategy not only changing the knowledge, attitude but majorly the behavior and practices related to Anaemia.

Last month, the Community Health and Nutrition Program Awareness Program in anemia control was conducted in various schools to educate especially adolescent girls to improve their health status.

The awareness program is primarily aimed at encouraging adolescent girls to join the SUHAM Health groups for effective guidance in monitoring and combating anemia. As a part of the awareness program, an HB test camp was conducted for adolescent girls. Around 102 girls participated in the health camp.
