T o inculcate the idea of depletion and pollution of ground water a future search workshop was organized for the students of American college. About 90 participants from various departments engaged themselves in addressing the global trends in environmental deterioration. The participants divided into 10 sub-groups to have a discussion on past, present and future status of river Vaigai and presented before the forum. This phenomenon on evolution of river Vaigai was inter-related with the recent global trends in ground water depletion. This inter relation made the participants to visualize the future era on making invisible groundwater visible.

After consolidating every primary and secondary data from the participants, valuable ideas and solutions to were received to define the future of the river Vaigai. They suggested to increase the number of dustbins to dump garbage and plastics, provide transportation facilities, build and maintain toilets in the vicinity in order to avoid open defecation, make space for Vaigai to reach every reservoir close by, maintain the heritage buildings close to the river, plant trees on the riverbanks, building check dams, re-cycling plastic and bottles, using the waste to create arts and crafts. use corporation drinking water instead of RO water, use social media to create awareness and document the status of Vaigai over years., keep recording and document the progress and developments about Vaigai river and maintain reports. The participants developed a vision for the future of Vaigai River. It states “RiverVaigai, a living heritage as a bio-diversity rich, eco-sensitive, culturally inclusive, and being a responsible recreation space.”
