S eventeenth International Course on “Advanced Reflective Education and Training (ART) on Mutual Insurance was held during 22nd to 25th March 2022 in The Dhan Academy, Madurai .
The training focused on risk management practices in DHAN collectives, Non-financial risk management practices of the community, Mutual solutions for the community on their own including life, health, crop and livestock mutual products, Sustainable development goals on insurance, Administration of claim and enrollment, Data analysis, Principles and product design of insurance.
The first day focused on “Mutuality and Micro insurance”. Discussion and knowledge sharing on experience helped the participants to understand about various types of risks being faced by the poor across the rural, urban, coastal and tribal contexts. To reduce the risk of person or family, there are local systems and it was shared as non-financial risk management practices of poor community.
The second day focused on “Mutual insurance for life and non-life risks”. The available mutual insurance products were shared by the practitioners and experts covering life, health, crop and livestock related products.
The third day focused on “Learning with community”. During the training period participants have visited two federation mutuals (Namely Gangai and Sellur Vattara Kalanjia Mutuals) promoted by the poor community for addressing the risks by deepening social security services by own, collaboration and Government services.
The Fourth day focused on “Mutual insurance product design”. Designing of products, principles and reinsurance concept were discussed for better understanding and enriching sectoral knowledge.
The event was resourceful with the lectures and discussions facilitated by veterans from Insurance Institute of India and also from various insurance companies.
