The Inauguration of New SUHAM Community Hospital at Koraput

Koraput region takes a leap to better healthcare with SUHAM Community Hospital.

On the special occasion of the International Women's Day celebration, the new SUHAM Community Hospital was inaugurated in Koraput.

This hospital is promoted by Deomali Kalanjiam Mahasangha. This was inaugurated by M.P. Vasimalai, Executive Director, DHAN Foundation. Dr. Dhaneswar Sahoo, Gynaecology, SLNM College, Koraput, Dr. Suratha Kumar Mahapatra, BAO, Semiliguda were present on the occasion.

Around 130 guests including the health staff and the community leaders were present as a part of the event.

The inauguration of the hospital was one of the many events launched by DHAN’s Koraput team on the eve of International Women’s Day. The other events included the Kalanjiam house warming ceremony, a nutrition-based food festival, and much more.

Speaking as a part of the event, Mr. Bijaya Kumar, the Regional Coordinator of Koraput stressed how the newly launched hospital will bridge the gap between the government and people in tribal areas. “There are more than 250 villages around Semiliguda and Koraput, with the majority population being tribal. The hospital aims to have a special focus on women and children. There are 291 DHAN’s Kalanjiam groups covering 4000 families in Semiliguda and Koraput. With the Nalam account already collected from them, there would be no consultation charges for them for almost a year!
