Fifth Virtual Heritage Walk

Kazhugumalai is situated 25 km away from Kovilpatti at Kovilpatti-Sankarankovil road in Tuticorin district. Kazhugumalai was one of the ancient trade routes of india where traders from North and South as well as Roman Traders interacted. The Kazhugumalai monolithic is an outstanding example of the Dravidian architecture, which is comparable with Ellora and Mahabalipuram. Kazhugumalai had a university for propagating the Jain philosophy. Kazhugumalai is also known for its rock cut Muruga temple namely Kalugasalamoorthy. This place is famous for its traditional food Panailai Kozhukattai.
