Depositor Education and Awareness Programme under RBI
The Depositor Education and Awareness Programme was conducted on 22nd January 2020 at Palayam, Guziliyamparai Block by DHAN Foundation. The purpose of the programme was to educate the community about the banking services and schemes.
Mrs. Sivapriya, Branch Manager, Canara Bank, Guziliyamparai delivered the key note address and encouraged the community to open savings bank account with Nationalized Banks. The members were briefed about the rate of interest for different credit schemes and the procedures for availing credit from the banks, different deposit schemes, KYC norms, nomination facilities, and usage of ATM, locker facilities and the charges levied by the banks for operations. The details related to different type of loans like agricultural loan, education loan, housing loan, SHG loans were also briefed.
Mr. Suresh Kumar Venu, Assistant General Manager, Reserve Bank of India explained about the fraudulent cases which are happening all over India. He briefed some of the incidents which happened while availing Mudra Loans in a district and asked the participants to be aware of fraudsters. In addition, the insurance schemes like PMJJBY, PMSBY, PMFBY, PMAY, APY were also briefed to the community.
