T ondi is a historic place on the traditional trade route of Chola Country to Ramaeswaram in the east coast of Ramanathapuram district. This is the important port of Pandya rulers from 400 A.D till recently. According to the Stone inscription of this place Tondi is called as Pavithramanickapattinam in the name of Rajaraja Chola I (985 A.D- 1014 AD). Thondiamman Temple and Nagareeswar(Chidambareswar) Temples are important Tangible Heritage sites of this place. The resource lecture will be delivered by Dr.V.Vedachalam Archaeologist.
