We are pleased to share that DHAN Foundation has become an Official Direct Member of the International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage (ICID) this year. This partnership marks an important step in strengthening our global engagement in sustainable water management, irrigation, and agricultural development.

The Fourth World Irrigation Forum (WIF4), organized by ICID and the Malaysian National Committee on Irrigation and Drainage (MANCID), was held from 7th to 13th September 2025 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

With the theme “Is Irrigation a Sunset Industry?”, the forum served as a global platform bringing together leaders, professionals, and policymakers from across the world to discuss the future of irrigation and its relevance in ensuring food and water security. DHAN Foundation’s participation offered valuable exposure to global trends, innovations, and best practices in agricultural water management.

As a Direct Institutional Member of ICID, DHAN Foundation will contribute to the Permanent Committee for Technical Activities (PCTA) through active involvement in several Working Groups (WGs) and Task Forces (TFs). DHAN Foundation is nominated in the following groups:

• Climate Change and Agricultural Water Management: Addressing the impacts of grassroots climate variability on water and agriculture.
• Capacity Development, Training, and Education: Strengthening the knowledge and skills of professionals, farmers, and communities.
• History of Irrigation, Drainage, and Flood Control: Preserving and analyzing the evolution of Tank based-irrigation systems.
• Water–Food–Energy Nexus: Exploring integrated approaches to balance water use for agriculture, food production, and energy generation.
• Water Harvesting for Managing Water Scarcity: Promoting traditional and modern water harvesting techniques to enhance community water security.
• Women Empowerment in Water Management: Advancing gender equality and leadership roles of women in managing water resources effectively.

This engagement with ICID is a proud milestone for DHAN Foundation, enabling collaboration with global institutions and experts to translate global insights into local action.
