Since the dawn of modernization and in the name of sophistication, the need based design and planning is slowly vanishing. With regards to rural development, there is no proper planning or design in terms of infrastructure provided. And even in the cities, especially in India, there is a lack of planning and envisioning the future needs. The present day planners doesn’t know the importance of getting all the stakeholders opinions, needs and design accordingly. To bridge this gap, TDA offers three days hands on training programme on “Rural Participatory Learning and Planning (RPLP)” which deals with planning and designing using Participatory Learning Methods (PALM). PALM helps to understand the local resources, how the architecture, basic infrastructure evolved and also their social, economical and cultural development over the years. This method will help in assessing their needs, available resources and how those can be utilized for their own development with community participation
The expected outcomes envisaged of this programme are
Understanding about usefulness of the PALM techniques used planning
Hands on experience in PALM techniques
Exposure to Rural village, their needs and requirements
Need based and participatory planning and design
