Water Literacy Camp for Adolescent Girls and Boys:
W ater Literacy camp was organized for adolescent girls and boys, for three days each, from 25th to 27th December and 28th to 30th December. The students were introduced to traditional water bodies, like ponds, tanks, temple tanks, springs, and dams, in and around Madurai. They were familiarized with the various water bodies and their uses, along with seasonality and temporal variations that occurred through the years. The students were made aware of the need for water conservation in the orientation session, and they actively shared the knowledge gained, by making short clips about the water bodies. Students were awarded certificates for successfully completing the three-day residential camp.
Among students’ awareness on Corona safety measures like social distancing, wearing masks and frequent hand washing was given. A total of 85 students from various schools in Madurai participated and gained knowledge on awareness on the water.
