Purpose of the Programme

In this phase of the Apprenticeship we expect the candidates to:

1. Understand the development principles and concepts relevant to the grassroots action.

2. Perform a group of tasks which together produce a development outcome within the framework of a DHAN Foundation project, building technical, managerial, process and coping competencies in the process.

3. Understand and reflect on the organisation principles and values.

4. Understand the role efficacy and perform effectively to get rooted and enable to set future goals.

Apprenticeship programme should enable you to develop your abilities in the following areas.

Community skills, or an ability to build rapport with the community and understanding them. In other words, can you help the community organise themselves? Are you able to kindle their stakes?

Understanding the programme and its components, develop clarity about the programme components, their relevance in poverty reduction, the tasks that need to be performed, their sequence and importance, and how the project you are placed actually contributes to the well being of the community.

Adjustment, or the ability to cope with physical, social and cultural stress. In other words, can you, or would you like to, adjust to your new work and living environment?

Identity with work and the people, and your sense of self-worth. Alternatively, how important do you feel your contribution to work is?
