On 12th February 2021, CURE (Centre for Urban Water Resources) of DHAN Foundation organized a roundtable conference with desludging operators of the Madurai City and the Peri-Urban area. Seven desludging operators from various parts of the city, along with their family members, attended the meeting. CURE team members, Programme Leaders and Team leaders of DHAN Collective were present during the meeting.
First of its kind meeting went two-ways with Practitioners from DHAN Collective sharing the scope and ways to enhance the socio-economic conditions of the desludging operators and operators echoing the field realities in terms of job as well as social stigma towards sludge operators even in the 21st century.
