MoU between Gandhigram Rural Institute (GRI) and DHAN Foundation

DHAN Foundation has made a new Stride in its Development Partnership by entering Memorandum of Understanding with Gandhigram Rural Institute on December 31, 2024. Gandhigram Rural Institute a.k.a GRI was established during 1956 by two dedicated disciples and contemporaries of Mahatma Gandhi, Dr.G.Ramachandran and Dr.T.S.Soundaram Ramachandran on very strong foundation of Mahatma Gandhi’s revolutionary philosophy of Nai Talim, which effectively bridges the cognitive and practical dimensions, and focuses on the holistic development of learners, with an emphasis on skill development through value-based education, rooted in indigenous cultures and traditions. This Central University and DHAN Foundation with a broader objective to undertake collaborative training/ teaching and research. This unique MoU paved way for establishing formal linkage to develop new collaborative teaching programmes and research in UG and PG Programmes in the areas of Agriculture, Civil Engineering, Geo Informatics, Lifelong Learning Centres, Extension, etc. Exchange programs for faculty/ Researchers which will be beneficial mutually is also one of the important partnership agenda. A Four Member Joint Steering Committee will be constituted by nominating two persons from each partner.

The MoU was signed by Dr. L.Radhakrishnan, The Registrar-in-charge and M.P.Vasimalai, Executive Director of DHAN Foundation, Madurai. The exchange of signed MoU occurred at the chamber of Vice-Chancellor of GRI Dr.Panchanatham. The members present during this remarkable event were Dr.L.Radhakrishnan, The Registrar-In-charege, Dr.Meenakshi, HoD and Dean of GRI, Dr.Venkata ravi from GRI and Messrs. A.Gurunathan, James Samuel and Devanesan of DHAN Foundation.

Strengthening Livestock Protection Through Coinsurance: DHAN PEOPLE MUTUALS and IFFCO TOKIO

Recognizing the critical need for financial security among rural livestock farmers, PEOPLE MUTUALS initiated discussions with IFFCO TOKIO to co-create a comprehensive livestock insurance solution. Responding positively, IFFCO TOKIO has agreed to partner under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that defines the coinsurance framework, operational modalities, and shared responsibilities. The co-insurance product will initially be launched in the following seven states, chosen for their active Mutual Federations and demonstrated need for livestock insurance like Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh

PEOPLE MUTUALS will Identify and mobilize livestock farmers associated with Mutual Federations who are willing to subscribe to both Mutual and co-insurance products.

IFFCO TOKIO will Issue a master policy under the co-insurance arrangement, covering 50% of the value of each insured animal within the identified Federations.

This partnership serves as a model for collaborative insurance that empowers rural communities by protecting livelihoods and fostering resilience. Additionally, starting from April 2025, DHAN Jeevidam will become a corporate agent for IFFCO TOKIO, further strengthening this alliance and extending its reach in promoting rural risk management.
