DHAN Foundation’s Water initiatives :

Tankfed Agriculture Development Programme was a thematic programme of DHAN Foundation for more than a decade towards the purpose of reducing rural poverty. True to its commitment, DHAN Foundation with its professional and humanistic approach initiated actions to revive the rural economy, environment and other great traditions inbuilt in to the tank systems through their rehabilitation with peoples’ participation. As the need for upscaling the Tank Programme and for enriching the water related development interventions was felt, DHAN Foundation promoted DHAN Vayalagam (Tank) Foundation (DVTF) as its water thematic collective. Thus the DVTF became operational with effect from October 2, 2006 to rigorously carry forward the rehabilitation of traditional water bodies (Tanks, Ponds, Ooranies, Supply channels etc.) in addition to expanding the development interventions connected with water.
