INTER COLLEGIATE CULTURAL COMPETITION

Madurai is poised to join an illustrious list of cities that conduct annual marathons for a cause. The first 'Madurai Marathon', a run for water, is to be held in the historic city on January 13, Saturday. The event has been so designed to highlight the need to preserve the water legacy of the ancient city, which is facing rapid urbanisation in the next few years.

The DHAN Foundation, as prime mover of the idea, has designed the event to comprise a mini marathon, walk for a cause, celebrity walk, run for the differently to abled, roller skating, cultural show on water, cultural competitions for students, a traditional food festival and an exhibition on water.
The American College invites the college students to participate in the inter-collegiate cultural competition organised as part of Madurai Marathon 2007.

Terms:

  • Teams should STRICTLY adhere to the theme.

  • Each participating college will send a single team of 6 students with proper identification.

  • Duration for each team will be 10 minutes.

  • Names of participants should reach the convener on or before 5th January 2007.

  • If need be, a preliminary selection round will be held on 9th January 07. Exact time and venue will be announced later.

  • Attractive Cash Prizes with memento and Certificates will be awarded to first three places.

Water is Elixir of life. Conserving water is everyone's responsibility. Madurai Marathon is organised on 13th January 2007 to promote the values of water, its efficient use and protection of water bodies.

Madurai Marathon invites College students to participate in the ESSAY WRITING / SLOGAN WRITING / DRAWING COMPETITIONS on the following Topics.

Topic 1: SAFE DRINKING WATER
“I have a vision of ensuring SAFE DRINKING WATER for MADURAI”

Topic 2: JUDICIOUS USE OF WATER
“I have a vision of JUDICIOUS USE OF WATER for MADURAI”

Topic 3: WATER HARVESTING
“I have a vision of WATER HARVESTING for MADURAI”

Topic 4: WATER RECYCLING
“I have a vision of WATER RECYCLING for MADURAI”

Topic 5: WATER CONTAMINATION
“I have a vision of arresting WATER CONTAMINATION at MADURAI”

RULES AND SPECIFICATIONS

  1. Essays / Slogans to be submitted in own handwriting on A4 Size (21 x 28cm) Sheets.
  2. Drawings / Paintings to be submitted in A3 Size (30 x 42 cm) chart papers.
  3. Entries to be attested as OWN WORK by the competent College authorities.
  4. Multiple entries are allowed, but each person is entitled to only one prize.
  5. Contributions submitted are not returnable. Madurai Marathon will reproduce, publish or exhibit them appropriately.
  6. The judges' decisions are final and no correspondence will be entertained.

Attractive Cash Prizes will be awarded to first three places in each category.
Selected essays / slogans / drawings will be published in a booklet and exhibited in future public exhibitions by Madurai Marathon.
The prizes for the winners will be given on January 13, 2007 the day of Madurai Marathon.
