Mr.Kumaresan is one of the active farmers in soriyampatti village in Ponnamaravathy block of Pudukottai District. He has land 2.5 acres land in Veerasamuthiram enthal . He left land fallow for about three years since from 2011 because of less water in his tank. The veerasamuthiram tank had the problem of inflow due to the siltation and dense vegetation in the supply channel. The storage capacity of the tank also was reduced due to heavy siltation as the tank neglected for desiltation for more than two decades.
Mr.Kumaresan has 2.5 acre wet land in the command area of veerasamuthra enthal tank with a well and bore well. This tank was renovated on 2014-15. The supply channel renovation and Deepening were taken in the tank. Through this work tank water storage capacity was increased and the water flow problem was solved through the renovation of supply channel. After the renovation work the water level in bore wells and wells increased.
Mr.Kumaresan cultivated his land two times with paddy and he got net profit through the second crop Rs.8500/-. Every year he cultivates two times with SRI technology with the guidance of Agriculture staff in Ponnamaravathy federation and moving from poverty.
