How you can contribute

Your support will help the Kalanjiam Federations to make the identified women and adolescent girls free of anemia.

  • The identified women and adolescent girls would be organised into groups
  • They will undergo a well designed behavioral change communication package to bring positive changes in their knowledge, attitude and practice related to anemia such as intake of iron rich food and iron–folic acid tablets (IFA), de–worming, use of footwear to prevent hookworm infestation
  • They will meet once in a month and exclusive health workers will regularly meet them for individual counseling
  • Supply of IFA tablets. For mild and moderately anemic patients one tablet per week and for severely anemic patients one tablet daily
  • De–worming tablet once in six months
  • Training on preparation of iron rich food with locally available food materials
  • Each member would be provided a Kit, which contains
    • A comprehensive booklet and pamphlets on anemia
    • 110 IFA tablets for two years
    • Four Albendazole tablets for de–worming
    • A self monitoring card for tracking progress

You can sponsor our anemia control initiative by adopting a location or share the cost of a unit of 100 members.

Success Stories

Eswari is from Ellapatti village of Madurai District, Tamil Nadu. She and her husband are agricultural labourers.
