ICT for Poor Programme

DHAN Foundation conscious of technological changes in this era and the poor being left out in this process has initiated the “Information & Communication Technology (ICT) for Poor” Programme. DHAN Foundation has taken up 'ICT for the poor' as a theme to experiment, develop and implement socially-relevant ICT programmes. DHAN Foundation established the Community Resource Centers(CRCs) under its Information & Communication Technology Programme(ICT) for poor programme. The CRCs are the grassroots level centre at Panchayat/village level and each CRCs are reaching out to about 5-6 villages. These centers are managed by trained women from the local community. Each CRC is equipped with two computers, internet connection, printer, UPS, public address system, mini-library, interactive multimedia content in DVDs, web/digital camera, etc. The villagers contribute a rent free building which is accessible to all people particularly women irrespective of caste, sex, etc. The CRCs are benefiting community through e-services catering to the needs of school going children, youth, women and farmers.
